Portrait: deciding on what to do - part 1 of 2

On YouTube; Portrait 1

If you want to draw the face or body, two methods are available: use symbols, or guide books to learn how to draw an idealised human, or use observation to draw from life (or a photograph).
In the video, I make reference to this book. It's called "Drawing the Head and Figure" by Jack Hamm.

This video introduces the use of symbols.
